Bennett Creek Dredge Group, headed by Neil Wilson
and Buck Tysor, organize a meeting at the Bennett Creek Landing clubhouse
to discuss the current condition of the channel and actions required to
dredge. Suffolk City
Officials and the Corps of Engineers were in attendance. (Historical note: Bennett Creek Dredge Group soon adopts a new name, Friends of
Bennett Creek FOBC), as suggested by Buck Tysor.) |

Suffolk City Council voted 7-0 in favor of appropriating the
necessary $40,000 for dredging Bennett Creek. <source: FOBC attendance

Army Corps of Engineers Letter to Suffolk.
Federal funds committed to dredging Bennett Creek and request for
the City’s share of the expense in the amount of $40,000. Dredging scheduled on/approximately March 29,2001. |
